Fall Masquerade

Chi Omegas filled the dance floor

A week and a half ago, we had our fall formal! The theme of this years formal was Masquerade and we were lucky enough to dance the night away at Hotel Andaluz. Our social chair, Amelia Linde, and her cabinet worked especially hard to make this night happen and go off without a hitch. There was a photo booth, appetizers, and tons of memories made with sisters. Putting aside all of our school work and problems for one night is just what the doctor ordered. Sometimes you just need to have a night with your sisters to have fun and kick your shoes off and dance till your feet hurt. This was our new members' first formal and they had a blast and enjoyed learning the traditions of Pi Gamma formals. Such traditions include singing "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks and ending with "Shades" with our seniors. All in all we had a great time at and we cannot wait till our next formal in the spring!

Big Sis Reveal Fall 2013

Our New Member Educator, Cailee, spoke to the New Members about the special bond between Big's and Little's.

We had so many baby hooties this semester (36 to be exact) and we were more than excited for them to finally get their big sisters. A big sister is someone who they can look up to, someone that is a role model and someone that is not just a sister in Chi Omega but is also a best friend.
This semester we did a balloon pop for big sis reveal and the excitement had been building up all week! The big sisters found out who their new little sisters would be on Monday night, and they crafted gifts for their soon-to-be little's all week. All 36 new baby hooties received their first set of letters and other Chi O goodies this week! The big sisters had to keep who their new little sisters would be a secret until the next Monday. With the reveal of the big sisters came so many new bonds through Chi Omega.
Needless to say, Big's and Little's have a strong bond that will be there for the rest of their lives. Chi Omega is not just a sisterhood, but it also is a family.

Baby Hooties patiently wait to pop their balloons!

So many Baby Hooties, so many balloons!

Some of our New Members were more emotional about finding out who their big's were than others. (Or more emotional for other new members to find out who their big's were)

St. Baldrick's & Sisters

Pi Gamma sisters at the Albuquerque 2013 St. Baldrick's Event!

Back in May we had three sisters shave their heads for St. Baldrick's. St. Baldrick's is a foundation that helps raise money for Childhood Cancer by having volunteers shave their heads for donations. Our three lovely Chi Omega sisters, Celeste Lara, Erika Porter, and Clare Smith, shed their locks for donations made to the wonderful cause. Two months later they are still as proud as ever for the decision they made that brought great donations to and shed light on, Childhood Cancer.

Sweethearts at Pi Gamma!

Within the last few weeks we have had two sisters become Sweethearts for fraternities on campus! This makes our total of Sweethearts here at Pi Gamma now THREE! Our chapter has more sweethearts than any other sorority on campus. These women were chosen by their respective fraternity chapter because they are the women who best represent what the fraternities hold near and dear to them.
Sweethearts at Pi Gamma: Amelia, Rachel, and Taylor

Rachel Williams, is the Sweetheart for Alpha Tau Omega. She is a sophomore here at UNM and is studying Political Science and International Relations. She plans to attend law school once she has graduated from UNM. Rachel is the Vice President here at Pi Gamma while also being a Senator for ASUNM (UNM's student government) and a Resident Assistant for Resident Life! She is widely involved on campus but makes time for her ATO's!

Amelia Linde, is the Sweetheart for Sigma Chi here at UNM. The Social Chair here at Pi Gamma, Amelia just put on an amazing White Carnation Ball. She is a sophomore and is currently studying Business and Political Science. Amelia is also involved in various things on campus such as: Cultural Director of ASUNM, Internal Associate Director of Lobo Dance Marathon, and Lobo athletics. As busy as Amelia is with school and campus involvement, she finds time for her Sigma Chi's.

Taylor Aragon, is Kappa Sigma's Sweetheart. Taylor is the Philanthropy Chair here at Pi Gamma, and is planning great events for us to raise money for Make-A-Wish. She is a sophomore and is studying Broadcast Journalism and American Studies. No matter how busy her schedule may get, she always makes time for her Kappa Sig's!

White Carnation Ball 2013

This past weekend we celebrated our seniors at White Carnation Ball. With everyone in all white except our seniors and their dates, we jumped on buses and headed to our Ball location. This year our White Carnation Ball was at the Hotel Parq Central Albuquerque, being the first greek organization to ever use this location we were especially excited and blown away by how beautiful it was. Our Social Chair, Amelia Linde, and her social cabinet did a wonderful job putting together this last hoorah for our seniors. A red carpet entrance with "paparazzi" and a photo both including silly props topped off this wonderful event! We will gladly miss our seniors, but we are so proud to see them graduate and move on to the next chapter in their lives.

Eleusinian 2013!

Celebrating 118 Years!

On April 5, 1895 our amazing sisterhood was officially formed. Looking back over the years, Chi Omega, especially Pi Gamma, has flourished. We now have 176 chapters located nationwide and over 300,000 active members! Wow! The five founders would be so proud if they could see how much Chi Omega has grown.
This last week was Initiation Week for Pi Gamma. We had five lovely ladies join our sisterhood today, and we could not be more excited to welcome them into our Pi Gamma family! After initiation festivities concluded, the women of Pi Gamma got dressed up and readied themselves to celebrate a big birthday!
Pi Gamma celebrated the 118th birthday of Chi Omega today at Eleusinian. Eleusinian is the celebration of Chi Omega's Founder's Day; the day Chi Omega was founded. The active members of the chapter gathered with Pi Gamma alumni, who shared stories about their days in Chi O, their fondest memories and friendships between sisters that are just as strong today, as they were all those years ago. A few sisters of the Active and the Alumni chapter were recognized for their achievements throughout the last year and given awards. Bonding between the active and alumni chapter made the day full of laughs, jokes, and new friendships made. Here's to another 118 years and more Chi Omega!

Miss Silver Rose 2013

Congratulations Amelia!

A big Congratulations to our beautiful sister, Amelia Linde on becoming ODPhi's Miss Silver Rose 2013. Through intense preperation and practice, Amelia owned the stage Wednesday night. She competed in rounds such as talent, business attire, spirit, and formal gown. Amelia decided to represent the Make-A-Wish foundation and that the money given to her for winning Miss Silver Rose would be donated to our chapter's Make-A-Wish fund. With the news of her winning, came a very generous donation of $1500.00! We are so proud of Amelia and the amazing job she did in representing Chi Omega and Make-A-Wish at this wonderful event. A big shout out to the gentlemen of ODPhi, for putting on such a great fundraiser event and for raising money for the CASA Foundation.

Sisterhood Retreat Spring 2013

Tastey treats at sisterhood retreat!
Spring is here, and along with it came our sisterhood retreat for the semester! Our sisters escaped to the Elena Gallegos campgrounds for a great morning of games and sisterly bonding. Through team building and spending precious time together, we made more memories that will last a lifetime.
