Greek Week 2014

Game On Greek Week!

Greek Week 2014 is benefiting Basket of Hope.  Basket of Hope's mission is to give hope, in the form of gift baskets, to children newly diagnosed with cancer and other serious illnesses staying at UNMH. With the help of the rest of the Greek community we can spread hope and make an impact on children's lives!

As part of the week's festivities, each chapter was given the opportunity to design a basket for the children.  Special shoutout to Marissa Le and Haili Emerson for putting in so much work to Chi Omega's basket, it is definitely a beautiful creation!

Greeks at the Games, supporting the Lady Lobos as they took on UNLV.  Although the competitors were fierce, our Lady Lobos still came out on top, congrats on your win ladies!  Shoutout also to Amy Nolker for supplying us with such cute signs, XO's Love the Lobos!

Greek Week Community Service at the Rio Grande Zoo.  It was a beautiful day to volunteer at the zoo, see the animals, and make memories with sisters!  It was such a great experience to work with other members from the Greek Community to make the zoo a beautiful destination.

Greek Sing at Popejoy!  Shoutout to the gentlemen of Pike and ATO for participating in Greek Sing Small and Large group with us, we had a blast!  All the chapters brought their A game, and we were especially proud of all our sisters for keeping it classy but just a little bit sassy!

The Greek Community welcomed Lawrence C. Ross, Jr. to the SUB as he spoke about what it meant to be in a Greek Organization.  He is also the author of the book "The Divine Nine," which tells the story of how NPHC organizations have played a major role in the shaping of generations of black leaders.

Greek Trivia this year was hosted at the lovely Explora Science Center and Children's Museum, thanks to ASUNM's funding.  Greeks got the chance to check-out the exhibits before trying their hand at trivia. Special shoutout to our trivia team of Amelia, Megan, Gabby, Sarah, Bella, and Jessie for representing Chi Omega.

Competition was fierce as Greeks competed in Greek Games at Johnson Gym.  We competed in tug of war, pyramid, ball race, and even battleship water polo.  Our sisters brought their A game and showed their Chi Omega and Panhellenic Spirit!

The Greek Banquet was hosted in the SUB Ballrooms where we started with a group picture and ended with awards.  We were proud to congratulate Sophie Salcedo as Greek Woman of the Year!  We also had a handful of women welcomed into the Order of Omega, and awarded for getting a 3.5 GPA for both spring and fall semesters.  Rachel Williams received the Advancing the Community Award while Nicole Habbit was given the Terry Sperry Carr Scholarship.
